I think I messed up my Roland D-20 by spraying Wd-40 Electrical Contact Cleaner on it. Is this recoverable?
What issue was it having before using WD-40 and where did you spray the WD-40 into? If it was into a pot you might need to replace the pot. It’s preferred to use Deoxit for servicing synths.
There was no issue where I sprayed it, I thought I was being proactive but was being stupid. I had the synth apart to look at a mushy key, and I had used that before to clean that area but this time I also sprayed in into all of the button switches for all the banks and patches an everything.
You might be able to flush out the WD-40 with isopropyl alcohol. Otherwise you may need to replace the tactile switches.
Thanks. I’ll have to see if I can get the ribbon cable(s) disconnected so I can pull the board out then I will order these.
