Casio CDP-130 one note not responding, bad board? :( Video attached

hey everyone, I bought a keyboard last week and one key doesn’t work, it’s driving me crazy. I disassembled it and got to the contact strips, it plays intermittently and at high volume, and it seems like the contact patch on the PCB itself is damaged or incomplete as only a little portion of it works.

I swapped 2 strips for each other, cleaned the board with 99% IPA and contact cleaner, it’s still no good. The replacement PCB is available on Syntaur for $125, I bought the keyboard used for $100 so i’m just feeling lame about it and don’t wanna double my price by buying the board. I just wanna learn how to play

does anyone have any last tips or thoughts for how I can repair the contact patch? maybe graphite tape or something? would heat help?

Examine the area very carefully and use a meter to check continuity of tracks.

You’ll need to take the whole contact board out.

What do I do if I find continuity issues?

You’ll have to solder a wire across the affected area. Check diodes/resistors etc too.

Do you have the service manual?

If the black carbon part of the trace is broken from the copper trace you will need to replace the board. You can not solder the black carbon. Also there are smd transistors on Casio contact boards that you can also re-flow. The bad thing about testing is that you have to remove the contact board to work on it then re-install it to test. For faster results replace the contact board and be done with it. Good luck! Austin Keyboards / Casio Service Technician.
