Hi everybody,
I have a Casio Privia PX-330 in which one single A is not working. I disassembled the whole thing and discovered that the contact is on the MACP-KYA2 board. What’s strange is when the board is placed into position, the key does not sound at all, however (as you can see in the videos I link below), when I rub the rubber contacts (not sure what they are called) on the board, all the keys sound loudly except the key that doesn’t work, which sounds inconsistently. I saw someone mentioning that the rubber contacts having small rips and tears may cause an issue, which I actually did notice that the rubber contact for this key has 2 small rips, so I tested it with another rubber contact from another part of the keyboard, and the same issue happens, so I don’t think the rubber tears are the issue.
Videos:
Video of key in position being played, as you can see contact is being made between the rubber and the contact
Video of rubber contacts being rubbed on each key - the key that doesn’t work is the 4th from the left which does not sound like the other keys
I was wondering how I might go about fixing this issue. Is it an issue with the traces or maybe a specific diode? If so, which one? Sorry, I’m new to this, so feel free to treat me like a 5 year old in the comments, and maybe even link me to some tutorials on how exactly to do the repair if possible.
I really appreciate it. This A has been killing me for a while and I really want my Claire de Lune to sound perfect, lol.
Thanks!
