Kurzweil K2600 – Compatibility of aftertouch strips (Fatar TP/8)

The aftertouch strip in my Kurzweil K2600 has failed, quite probably from rough handling (by me!) when removing the keybed to clean contacts. It’s the 76 key semi weighted version of the K2600, so has the Fatar TP/8 Piano keybed.

I’ve looked on the web site, and can see a couple of replacement strips that look pretty much identical to the one on mine, e.g. https://syntaur.com/Part-3262-aftertouch-strip-88-note

The compatibility checker on the above item, however, says “As far as we know, this item is not compatible.”

Can anyone please tell me whether the above item is definitely wrong for a Kurzweil with a TP/8 keybed, or does the disclaimer indicate that it’s not tested so not guaranteed?

Honestly, if it’s the latter, I’d be prepared to take the risk and try it. Kurzweil doesn’t have a distributor on the UK at the moment, so finding anyone to look at one of their boards over here is almost impossible right now.

For your question, it is the latter, we haven’t tested this part (#3262) in a K2600 so we cannot guarantee it is correct. However, we have verified this strip is used in the K2600X so there is a very good chance it’s the right one for the K2600. We only have one of those left in inventory and no more expected anytime soon so order soon if you want to take a chance on it. Sorry I can’t give you a 100% sure answer, the service manual doesn’t make it clear if it’s correct either.
