Hi there,
I made some research trying to understand how to upgrade an audity 2000 from v1 to v2, but didn’t get any clue…
Does anyone know if it’s a software or an hardware upgrade and (most important) if it still can be done somehow nowdays?
Many thanks to anyone who could help
Cheers
I know it’s been 6 months, but does anyone have any info on how to do this ? Or was it software or PROM ? I would like to hook up the A2K to Edisyn or Prodatum but they require 2.0 to work. I’ve even tried the emu.tools site and got this response after hooking up to midi in/out.
I do have an old MBP with OS9 and might try the old EMU E-Loader but don’t know if that will work either. Does anyone have the files ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Haoleman
The Audity v1 to v2 upgrade was firmware only, but originally required returning the unit to an authorized repair center.
The upgrade method required a special boot PROM that fits into the empty PLCC32 debug socket along with a Sound Flash SIMM that contained the OS data. The boot PROM would read the data from the Flash SIMM and overwrite the onboard flash memories.
I have been working on a alternate upgrade path that only requires a custom boot ROM, since those Flash SIMMs are rare, and expensive. However with other projects ongoing it may be some months before this progresses.

Do you have any updates on the upgrade PROM? I have a version 1 Audity 2000 and was about to sell it so I can get version 2
