Hi all, new to the forums.
I have an emu emax I got recently in “somewhat” working order. I noticed it cannot sweep the filter, and also some spots within the filter/resonance controls sound extremely “wrong” - not sure how else to put it. Almost like it’s getting bad values, and the cutoff and resonance are not “where they’re supposed to be” so it sounds very brittle, spikey and digital in some places. I’ve read that this is most likely due to faulty SSM2300 chips. Are there any easy ways to test these ICs? Like a voltage to check for on a pin or something?
Also, I’m trying to replace the HD with a scusi2SD drive and it appears like you need a degree in computer science to get sounds onto one of these scusi2SD drives… anybody out there that can educate me on how to use these drives? Also, which is the best and easiest version of scusi2SD to buy/use for the emax?
Thanks all!
