E-mu MK6 Keyboard Static noise

My trusty E-mu Mo Phatt MK-6 keyboard is not outputting audio, only a ‘static’ sound. I’ve made sure the Rom(s) were seated correctly. I placed it with a tech and I believe they said it was a ‘bad i.c. chip’ and there was nothing they could do.

Any suggestions on getting it back up and running?

If the tech is correct and you have a bad IC then you will need to find a replacement for the IC. An oscilloscope is very useful in diagnosing these kinds of issues. You can start by checking the signal at the output and tracing it back on the circuit until you see where the static gets introduced into the audio signal. This helps pinpoint which component has failed and needs replacement.
