Got a (at the time I thought!) cheap mirage about a month ago, purchased a plug and play usb drive from a very reputable seller (cp magnetic media) and finally got around to installing the two today.
Upon installing the driver the mirage booted up but the screen on the new drive said reverse ribbon cable, and despite it looking correct, I did so anyways. I unplugged the power and switched the ribbon cable only. When I booted the mirage back up, it didn’t power on. No signs of life anywhere.
I followed the provided instructions very carefully and made sure the cables were in correctly, especially the power cable for the driver.
There was no nasty smell, no blown caps, no bad fuse, no indicators of total death. Tried different power cables, different outlets, nothing.
Only thing I can think of doing differently is I may have just pulled out and reinserted the IEC cable in the back instead of switching the power. Would that kill it? 99% sure I’ve done that with other machines before and can’t think of it being functionally any different than switching the power on and off unless the mirage has some sort of gradual voltage increase controller by the switch. Which I’m no expert maybe it does! And even so, I’m fairly confident I switched it off before pulling the cable, but I may have forgotten.
After inspecting the fuse, it didnt seem like it quite snapped back in but I couldn’t find any way to get it in further.
Any help or potential diagnoses would be greatly appreciate bc I’m totally stumped and very frustrated that all this time and money has left me with a dead unit.
