Help identifying spare part for CLP-645 sustain pedal issue

Hello,

I own a Yamaha CLP-645 digital piano, and I’m currently experiencing an issue with the right (sustain) pedal. While playing, the sustain occasionally cuts off even though the pedal is fully pressed down. This happens intermittently in the middle of a piece, making it quite frustrating to play expressively.

I’ve already tried the following:

  • Unplugging and replugging the pedal unit cable
  • Checking for loose connections or dust
  • Power cycling the instrument

The issue still persists, which makes me think there may be a hardware problem, either with the pedal mechanism, the sensor, or the internal cable.

Could you please help me identify:

  1. Which spare part(s) I would need to fix this issue?
  2. Whether this is something a user with basic DIY skills can replace on their own?
  3. Where I can order the correct replacement part(s)?

Thank you very much in advance for your help!

Best regards,

You will need to take the pedal out and repair it.
There is a potentiometer that senses the pedal position - it will need to be replaced.
Lay the instrument on its back to access the bottom then remove 6 screws and remove the unit. Then you have to remove the three pedals followed by removing the circuit board. Then you have access to remove and replace the potentiometer.

… in addition … could also be a corroded circuit board trace on that circuit board where the potentiometer is located.
