I'm new and need help - no sound from Ensoniq SQ80

Hello, I’m hoping someone can help me troubleshoot,

I’m new to the forum.

I’ve had my SQ80 since 1998, but I moved and for the last 10 years it has been sitting in a basement. I recently got it back.

It turns on, the display works, the buttons seem to work, but no sound comes out when plugged into an amplifier.

Looking through the manuals I can find, no sound is usually a problem with the volume slider or a problem, with the main board.

I tested the volume slider and I’m getting variable resistances depending on the slider position.
I assume that means the slider is working.

How do I trouble shoot further, as I see syntaur is out of main boards…

Any help is appreciated

What i would do is to look for the DAC / audio amp circuit and try to inject audio from an old mp3 player and see if the sound comes out form the outputs, if yes then it something wrong with the DAC. If the injected audio doesn’t come out then it is the analog amp circuitry.

There is high voltage inside and also it is easy to short out things inside.

Thank you for your response.
I will look into that.

Just wondering, have you got any luck ?
