Korg Kross 2 88 - keys triggering at random velocities

[Korg] [Kross 2 88] – [keys trigger at random velocities]

I have a Korg Kross 2 88. For a while now, the Bb4 has been firing at what sounds like full velocity, regardless of how hard the key is played. This happens playing internal sounds and when used as a controller to play external sounds via MIDI. I took the keybed apart to clean the rubber contact strip and contacts on the PCB board. I wasn’t paying attention to the alcohol I was using to do the cleaning. It was 70% isopropyl instead of 91% that I normally use on electronics. I didn’t realize this until after I reassembled to test and discovered things were worse. That Bb was actually slightly better, but now more keys in that same section I cleaned were playing at odd velocities. Some played OK at “mF” but almost not at all at “FF”. Some were behaving like that Bb. I fear I’ve made things worse by using 70% alcohol that’s generally not recommended for cleaning electronics.

First question: Is this original problem likely a contact PCB issue?

Second question: Do the current symptoms affecting multiple keys in the same section now point to a contact PCB issue or something else?

Third question: Should I just replace the PCB and the rubber contact strip for that section?

What was the area around the contacts like? 70% should be OK as it will still dry fast.

I thinking there’s some damage to components/tracks around the Bb area.

Well, it all looks fine to me. Don’t know how anything would get damaged around contacts.
