Hi all. Following a battery replacement and complete tear down and rebuild I can’t get the M1 to accept the sysek preset via midi I have followed the M1 settings to the letter and followed a YouTube tutorial everything was correct but after switching off then on the M1 still shows the stock setting. I used a generic Amazon midi cable and it showed data being transmitted and a transmission complete in the pc software I tried slow and fast transfer rates. I initially thought a capacitor (10uf 16v) I found on the floor had come off a pcb and was the culprit but after checking the pcbs they look good the capacitor has come off the expansion card with the optical connections that wasn’t fitted. I am thinking that the M1 is fussy with this transfer cable or the midi socket is suspect. Any help appreciated
Ps before I started work the M1 was in good working order though I’d never used the midi sockets
First check the MIDI communication between your M1 and PC. You can use MIDI-OX to monitor the incoming MIDI messages from the M1 (MIDI-OUT), and Play the M1 from the PC’s keyboard (MIDI IN). If this works, you can rule out the midi communication and proceed to the next steps.
I will try that but even if it works playing the keyboard via midi I have read that the M1 can be a bit temperamental with sysex type files especially via a cheap transfer interface hence trying a better cable may solve the problem
The MIDI interface is probably OK. Use Bome SendSX 1.40. Uncheck the “Split long messages when sending” in the settings.
I tried bone too and with the correct setting I think but il try it again thx
Did you change the settings on the M1 to allow it to receive sysex?
From the readme.txt file :
“2. Switch on the M1 and set the basic MIDI channel to 1 (Global Midi Channel) and ensure that SYS-EX RECEIVE is enabled. (if you fail to do this, the reload procedure will not work!”
With respect to you I followed all the correct configuration settings including the global settings but it doesn’t work as I explained it’s nothing to do with the keyboard configuration
