Have a Korg Triton Pro X 88 which I recently (just before Thanksgiving 2024) opened up to reset some of the plastic buttons (they were pushed in under the case).
After blowing out all the dust bunnies (especially in the key bed) and putting the system back together, I now have 6 keys which no longer work…about two octaves down from middle C (G-C).
I checked the contact circuit board and strip and all look clean and in good shape.
I’m lost as to what could be the issue.
I can’t find any articles or videos on how to remove the keys so I can do a deep cleaning. Anyone have something which might help?
Thank you.
You probably need to remove the complete keybed with all keys. Open it up by putting it on something soft like two bedroom pillows on a firm table. Place it on the 2 pillows face down and remove the rear outter bottom panel first. Get a plastic or paper cup to label with a magic marker. Place the removed screws from the rear under panel into the marked paper cup labeled rear panel outter screws. You may need to take a few photos with your phone of the Korgs inside to keep track of which cables and direction of the cables are plugged into the other internal boards. When you need to reassemble it the pics will help. I would remove the entire keybed so you can clean the contacts under the keys with a Q tip that you dipped into Isopropyl Alcohol. There may be dust under there with some grime that needs to be removed in order for the keys to make contact properly. Once the keybed is out you can remove all the keys and clean under them one at a time. Be careful to make sure you disconnect any cables properly before unscrewing the entire key bed. Take photos so you can refer back to what connectors go to what. Use the paper cups properly labeled for your various screws and which part they were removed from. Hopefully, this resolves your issue. Good luck!
Hi BigMikeD63.
Thanks for the reply.
I actually cleaned all the sensors/contact…which, I believe, is what caused the keys to stop working…as they worked fine before I cleaned the contacts.
Might you know of a video or photos which show how to actually remove the keys? There’s stuff out there for the Triton LE, Extreme, etc, but not for the Pro X.
I managed to take two off, however, I broke the black plastic tabs which “secure” the keys, so I’d rather not break anything else.
Thanks in advance.
