Kurzweil PC88/Fatar key weight felting tips

Hoping someone may have a best practice on getting replacement key weights to slide back on the metal “rod” that runs under the keys in a Kurzweil PC88 or Fatar TP40. I have completely disassembled the board, and 80% of the weights remain on the rod that organizes the weights. The board is at least 22yrs old, and the glue adhering the felt to each key weight, is separating when I attempt to slide them on the rod, causing the felt to jam up and rip off of the key weight. Re-gluing has not worked all that well. Have tried lubricating the rod with oil before sliding them on the rod, but the felt continues to catch. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

According to the service manual, you need to file down the end of the rod so that it will slide through more easily. I just tried this today and it does help tremendously.
