Pulling my hair out trying to figure out who I can send my MPC 4000 to for repair. Screen dead and memory needed. If there’s a great place to send it to please let me know I need to be working on that bad boy!!
Hi bro, no worries on this. If your MPC 4000 powers on but just the display is dead, you can literally change it’s display yourself. It’s only 2 plugs to disconnect from the old display and a few screws to remove the old display. Check Ebay for the brand new replacement screen as well as Sampler Zone. You will easily find a replacement. Over the years I’ve replaced tons of display screens on MPC 2000, 2000XL, MPC 60 MKII, MPC-5000. They are all the same as far as their connections. Only two connectors. Step 1. Purchase the replacement display for MPC 4000, Step 2. Get a pillow and put the pillow on a table, with your MPC 4000 (unplugged) from the AC power cord, put your MPC 4000 face down on the pillow. Step 3. Get a few paper cups and a marker so when you remove the screws from the MPC 4000 bottom panel, you can label each paper cup, Example: Outer front screws, Rear screws, Left side screws, Right side screws, Center screws, etc… when you need to put it back together it will be super simple and you won’t loose any screws either. Also create a paper cup labeled Display screws. If I remember correctly, that display has 4 or 6 screws, Before you disconnect the two cables from your dead display, take a photo of each connector so you know how to reconnect them both properly. It’s that simple. Don’t panic at all. The process will take around 25 to 30 minutes to complete. Make shure to wear rubber sneakers and rubber gloves so there’s no static electric discharge. You’ll be fine and will be confident after doing this once. I hope this helps you my brother. Sincerely, Mike D.
