Nord Power Supply Still Humming with New Syntaur Transformer

Dear friends,

The other day I resolved to eliminate the rather disagreeable mechanical buzz emanating from the power supply of my beloved Nord instrument. To that end, I purchased a replacement transformer from the highly regarded Syntaur. With the utmost care, I desoldered the original transformer and soldered the new one in its place.

I had previously read that such buzzing is often attributed to the display circuitry; however, even when the power supply is operated entirely on its own — completely disconnected from the rest of the instrument — the buzz persists with the new transformer installed.

I find it difficult to believe that the brilliant engineers at Nord would have intentionally designed a noisy power supply, and I remain convinced that a truly silent operation must be achievable.

Would any of you kindly have further suggestions as to how this residual vibration might be eliminated once and for all? I should be immensely grateful for your expertise and assistance.

With warmest regards and many thanks in advance,
From Madrid

Please let me know which model of Nord you’re working on so I can look into this problem. There may be another transformer or inductor in the power supply that is responsible for the buzz. If this an older model of Nord it may need some other work like replacing electrolytic capacitors in the power supply.
