Red Glue Roland U-20 + Battery

Hello! I’m dealing with a Roland U-20 that had the dreaded red glue problem. I’m happy to say that I was able to resolve the problem doing the Lye and LA Awesome Cleaner trick that’s pretty well documented. I re-epoxied all of the weights, and the keyboard is playing great.

I replaced the battery since it measured a little over a volt, and showed some signs of leaking around the edge. After replacing the battery, reinitializing, loading factory presets over SysEx, I’m still seeing the Low Battery message on boot up. When I checked the internal battery voltage on the service mode screen, it says 4.00V. I took that new battery out, and it measures a little over 3 volts. It kept the user settings and presets just fine over 24 hours since I replaced it.

Today I cleaned the battery terminals and tried another new CR2032. That measured 3.29V before I installed it, but I’m having the same problem. The RAM test passes, and now the battery says 3.6V on that screen. But every time it boots up, the same message!

Has anyone seen this on a Roland??

Just an update… I removed the battery for a few hours and shorted the RAM’s vcc input. At that pin, I measure 2.8V with the battery installed. Still showing the error.
