Repair Roland FP-3

Need to replace or clean the contact strips on the upper illuminated buttons (sounds, +/-, drums, etc.) because they are becoming unreliable. Can these rubberized strips be cleaned, or must they be replaced?

Welcome!
Yes, you can clean them and its one of the more common problems with these type of buttons. Get some isopropyl alcohol and cotton buds to clean them. Check for any corrosion. Good luck!

Thanks! Never took apart this FP-3. Do I need to remove the side caps in addition to the screws across the rear? Any surprising gotchas I need to know about?

Just checking, but do the illuminated buttons click when you press them?
It’s been a while since I repaired one of these.
If so, the switch unit may need to be replaced.
I’ve searched my usual list of websites to find the service manual, but it seems unavailable. As I recall the top lifts off the base?
