Roland Gaia SH-01 speaking softly

Hi,

Since last use, the main output from left and right channels on my Gaia SH-01 is very weak. Headphone out appears to be okay though. Maybe transistors or supply resistors to output stage are open. But I’m not an experienced tech. While it’s an okay synth it might not be worth repairing. Before I open it up, I thought I’d collect some feedback. What do you guys and gals think?

Thanks,
Logan

A lot of 90s gear suffered from leaking SMD capacitors causing this kind of issue. It’s possible that it’s the same, I can imagine there would be two audio coupling caps at the output stage, if these have degraded then it might be the cause. I haven’t had one on the bench though.

Thank you. I suppose I’ll open it up and test. It might be worth repairing.
