• Roland HP5500
• All sound is distorted, this has been the situation now for many months.
• Not carried out any tests yet, local repair centre were not interested in even looking at it.

My wife has had this electronic Piano from new, something like 1988. Recently it has been suffering with all audio sounding distorted, I am thinking this is most likely the Amplifier board but would welcome any suggestions.

It’s got great sentimental value to her so I would love to be able to resolve this.

Replacement parts are hard to find, but I trained many years ago in repairing telephone exchanges, so have a bit of a rusty skill with a soldering iron..

Get hold of the service manual and check the audio output from the main processor board.

Hopefully it will be the amplifier but could be something else such as power supply or visible fault.

Hi there,

Thanks for your response, I have tried to find a service manual for this model but it is nearly 40 years old, so proving to be a bit difficult to track down.

If you have and suggestions where I might find a service manual that would be great.
