Hey everyone!!! just wanted to ask if anyone who owns a JX3P has experienced this problem and i cant find any information about this. occasionally i have to re dial the master tune back to 440hz A note and I’ve noticed the dial is very sensitive and drifts even when i touch it. does this mean something is wrong with the master tune dial as in its lose or is the dial going bad. or is this a normal quirk that the jx does ?
My guess is that that potentiometer needs to be cleaned or replaced.
Hey Sam thanks for the reply and i hope your doing well!!! i also noticed that the dial is very loose when I turn it and was wondering if its suppose be loose or stiff while turning. I will try to clean it first to see if that fixes it but if that’s not the case do you know where I can source the part from since i don’t see it listed in the syntuar parts website.
The potentiometer in question 10k B, sometimes it can become more loose than usual and I have seen that the back of the pot becomes detached from being bumped. I’ve included some pics of a spare I have laying about for reference. I haven’t look on the shop but I’m guessing it comes with the whole jack board assembly.
You should be able to replace the whole thing.
Save having to buy a whole board.
If the potentiometer is very loose, the contacts of the wiper could be bent; they act as contacts and at the same time as a mechanical spring. You can open the potentiometer, clean the two contact tracks (resistance and center) and the tips of the contact springs with isopropanol or Caig FL5 and then bend the contact springs back up a little.
if the back of the pot physically moves when you jiggle the pot, its time to replace the pot. I would say something has let go inside the pot for that to happen.
I don’t see a replacement on Syntaur’s site so you may be forced to open it and repair it. I’ve not seen a mounting like that in decades so finding a like replacement is virtually impossible.
