Hi all, hoping someone can help me pinpoint what’s going on with this R8 MKII I bought a couple of months back.
When it first arrived I checked it all out pretty intensively, put a new Duracell/Procell battery in and it seemed to be functioning pretty well, except one rogue boot where the display had some missing characters over on the left side. I initially put this down to the WaveRex card I was using rather than the R8 itself.
However, after not using it for a few weeks it’s now doing that pretty much every time it boots from ‘cold’ (ie after having been off overnight or whatever) with or without a card in. It kind of seems like after it’s warmed up you can reboot to your heart’s content and the display will be perfectly fine, although on one occasion the screen has displayed wonky characters as below after seemingly booting correctly but that’s been an exception so far. Otherwise when it’s booted fine I can have it on for hours with no issues.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? I can’t find quite the same symptoms Googling around. I have of course tried a factory reset etc. but beyond that I’m not sure how to nail it down any further. I kind of guessed it might be a PSU issue but I’m out of my depth diagnosing these things really.
