I just acquired a Roland RD-300 Stage Piano. I bought it hoping that it would be an easy fix. Paid $25.
The piano doesn’t turn on. Nothing lights up when I turn on the power switch. Fuses are good. I’ve verified the power transformer output is good. The power supply board is supplying correct voltages to it’s outputs and there’s power to all the boards connected to the power supply board.
Is there a common failure component I should try before I give up?
Thanks,
Mike
Shortly after posting this I disconnected the CPU-A board, inspected it, didn’t find anything except some areas of rework. After I reinstalled the board, the keyboard is working!
It sounds good except for the lowest bass keys.
Sounds like a loose connector then. Easy fix!
For the bass keys, check the contacts and rubber strip on the keyboard PCB.
Give it a good clean with some alcohol. Look out for any corroded chips/diodes/resistors.
Sargfowler. Thanks for the suggestion.
Everything was secure before I took the CPU-A out but maybe there was some corrosion on a contact somewhere. I also removed and reseated a IC chip. Maybe that reset somehow.
I got lucky!
