I just picked up an SH-201 off Reverb, with the seller indicating everything seemed to work but he wasn’t very familiar with synths. Almost consistently, I’m getting moderately loud bursts of static and noise that seem to have a sort of echo/delay to them. Additionally, I just noticed that every 8th-10th note will not be registered, either using the keyboard or via MIDI inputs.
Given that there’s no real onboard OS, I was only able to restore the factory presets. I opened it up this morning, checked the main board for any damaged or worn components, and generally cleaned the major contacts, ribbon cables, and in/outs. Nothing changed as a result.
Am I to assume that the main board is on its way out? It was sold with an aftermarket power supply, but one that matched the voltage, amperage, and polarity of a Roland one.
