I haven’t used my Ensoniq KT-76 in at least seven years. I was recently asked to lend a weighted action keyboard to a visitor to the area for a one-night presentation. I got it out today and the “Main Battery Very Low” message was illuminated. I’m familiar with how to change the battery, and I ordered a special upgrade setup so that I don’t have to solder anymore. My question is: If the user only needs the internal ROM or int patches, does it really need the battery? Is the battery only necessary to keep presets and internal recording alive?
