Yam CVP-307, replaced all contact strips, now NO or staccato only Fortissimo sound

I’ve just replaced all of the contact strips in a CVP-307. The original complaint was that some keys would play full volume intermittently – a classic contact strip problem. When I put it back together there was no sound from any keys except a few – most in the middle, and one or two at the extreme ends of the keyboard. I’ve done this job before (not this model) and I know about putting the long line in the corresponding channel of the keyboard and about lining up the black stems to the holes in the circuit boards next to the hold-down screws, and I’m sure the contact strips are installed correctly. But it acts like the hammers are not getting the contacts all the way to the circuit board. I took the two center octave strips out and substituted the old strips but they did the same thing. What am I missing?

Sounds like the mk boards are not seated properly.
Did you use a rod to block the hammers before you replaced the circuit boards?
