Yamaha Arius 164 - Strange behaviour
I bought a second hand Arius 164 and while I was on holiday, my wife called. The Arius had switched itself on and the REC and R and L keys were flashing. It was also playing a recording that it had in its memory. The power button did not respond. It couldn’t be switched off without being unplugged.
I cam back from vacation and tried it myself. Plug it in, it would automatically switch on. Keys wouldn’t make any sound. REC and R and L keys would flash after a few minutes but impossible to switch off again without unplugging it.
I bought a new power board from Syntaur but after replacing it, the problem remained. What I tried next was insisting on the power button and it worked. The keys made sounds and the flashing buttons weren’t flashing. I was also able to switch it off and on normally. When I say I insisted on the power button I meant pushing it quite hard and wiggling my finger at the same time. I thought it was just a loose connection that I had restored with a wiggle. Turns out the problem is still with me.
So now I’ve removed the board with the volume knob and power button. I have also removed the left side buttons too (REC L R etc). Plugging the power button back in creates the same problem. My guess is that there is a faulty connection on the power button and that needs replacing.
All advice/recommendations welcome.
