[Yamaha] [P150] – [random audio]
New member, apologies if I’m breaking any house rules.
I acquired a P-150 on a neighbourhood reuse site, previous owners claimed it “worked fine till last week”. When I got it home it was 90% working: nothing on the display (backlight is on) but all voices worked, all keys worked, sounded fine.
About 30 minutes in, it suddenly just went faulty. I assume the same fault the previous owners had but I wasn’t able to get any details: buttons work intermittently, sometimes they work, other times not. Nothing on the display, though backlight is on. Pressing a key gives no noise. Releasing a key (for about 2/3 of keys) produces a note but of seemingly random pitch, loudness and duration.
I’ve had a quick inspection: no obvious damage/burning, not unusually dusty, no sign of loose connectors. I’ve put out a request to see if I can buy a service manual, but while I’m waiting was wondering if anybody has come across this or any suggestions? I’m kinda leaning towards dismantling the keys to see if there’s something shorting out a bus; thoughts?
