I’m considering buying a used Yamaha P125 for one of my beginner students. It is priced at $150 because the volume drops out and I want to know how expensive the fix could possibly be if it is worst case scenario. The seller says volume drops very low after 20 minutes of play, he then slides the volume control back and forth and then the volume works fine after that. He did spray the controller with “electronic cleaner” which seems to extend playing time before volume drops. What is the range of cost to fix this problem?
A new volume slider is probably only $5, but to replace it will need some soldering skills.
Is that something you can do yourself or do you need a complete turnaround solution?
