It’s been broken and sitting in my closet for years, so I’ll try to remember what happened to the best of my memory. I should note I have no real electrical knowledge, and I feel I’m just going to have to take it to a repair shop.
When I bought it the synth worked fine, never gave me an issue. I took care of it and no damage to it has been done.
One day it randomly powered off while I was using it. I was able to turn it off, then back on, and it worked fine. It continued to work as normal for days/weeks then it powered off while I was using it again. This became a reoccurring problem and it would start to happen more and more often. Eventually it got to the point where it would not want to power on when I clicked in the switch.
I looked online and saw you could do a reset of the synth by holding the right-most key while powering on. This worked, but it would continue to power off while in use every so often. Each time after that I would have to do the reset by holding the key to get it to power on. This would get the synth to turn on for awhile, but one day it just stopped working completely. You would do the factory reset and no lights would turn on to indicate it was attempting to power on/reset. I think I remember if you clicked the switch in a bunch of times in a row you could at least get the lights to come on the synth, but it would never fully power on past that.
This is a problem with both the power adapter and with batteries in it, so it’s not the power adapter causing the issue. I took it apart to see if anything came loose/unplugged on the inside, but as stated I have no real electrical knowledge. So that’s about the extent of the work I can do on it.
I already know I’m going to have to take it in, but the nearest Certified Yamaha Repair place is about 1.5 hours away. Before I do that I figured I’d try asking here to see if anyone has any ideas or thoughts on what could be the issue…or by miracle an easy solution.
Either way thanks for taking the time to read about my problem.
