Hello all!
I have just purchased and received this part: Display, Yamaha - Syntaur to replace the display in my S 90 XS. Does anyone have a manual or tutorial or even just to a few step guidance as to how to replace this display?
Thanks for your help!
The Service manual for the S90 should be very similar and is available for download.
Just Google “Yamaha S90 service manual pdf”
Thank you. I did find a place – I think a Hungarian website – that has that manual but unfortunately, I was not able to download it from there. If you are aware of a download site where it is available, I would be most grateful. Thanks.
try YAMAHA S-90 Service Manual download, schematics, eeprom, repair info for electronics experts … it may take a while to get to downloading but I can confirm it works and if all else fails I can send you the PDF in an email.
Thank you very much. Yes that’s the same link I tried to download from and failed. However I did find the manual on Scribd and was able to preview the section I needed and successfully replaced the display. Thank you all!
So glad you were able to repair it! Well done!
I’ve replaced displays throughout the 25 years of being an Audio Engineer. Remove it’s power cable. You have to open up the gear, Most likely from it’s bottom panel/ plate.I would place the unit on a bed face down. It’s a soft place or take 2 pillows from your bed and place the pillows down on a large flat table. Place the unit face down on those before removing it’s bottom screws and bottom panel/ plate. Get a few paper cups. Place your screws into a paper cup or cups. You can even write on each cup with a marker as to where the screws come from. Some screws may be wider and some thinner. This helps when putting all the screws back into their correct holes when reassbling. It helps keep you fully organized. When you get into the Keyboard and you can see the rear of the display screen. You need to first remove a slim cable attached to your old display. Then unscrew 4 screws. one on each corner of the rear display. Put these screws into plastic cup marked “display rear screws”, Next, remove the old display and put your new display into it’s place, screw back in the 4 screws, re- connect the slim cable, close it up and that’s it…. It’s that simple. Occasionally in some rare cases, such as a Tascam DM-300 or 4800 console, those need to be opened from removing both side panels then removing a panel on it’s top front. This is rare. Most keyboards and drum machines open from their bottoms.I hope this helps. It’s a very simple fix.
