Parts repair keys Yamaha YDP-223 key sticks down

My Yamaha YDP223 has a key that sticks down. Specifically it is the E key. What parts should I order to replace this and fix it. I don’t think the key itself is broken, but the spring type mechanism if there is one. I’m just not familiar with what’s underneath and would like advice before I start tearing it apart.

Hi

It’s not that difficult to extract the keyboard assembly to assess the issue.it could be a broken key, misplaced spring or something lodged in the mechanism (like a coin or ppr clip.

If you need the service manual contact me.

I think you may have got 1 of 3 issues here:

  1. Something fell beneath the area of that key and got stuck in the mechanism - ie Guitar Pick (been there many times)
  2. The key guide has come off and is now stuck inside underneath the key - I’ve seen a few of these recently. Mainly caused because silicon grease seeped out due to hot environment making the key guide stick to the key and come off.
  3. The Upper Stopper felt has perished and has dropped down and now the hammer has itself tangled up between the upper frame and the dropped stopper felt - had many of those over the years. You may even be able to verify this - if the key makes a clunk noise, even at power off, that’ll be the issue.

In any case - you have to remove the keyframe to start with.
